In seasons 1-8, the shippers make bids on two shipments that are listed on uShip, using a reverse auction format. Bids include comments on the probable costs and risks along with the motivations and skills. The job is usually awarded to the bidder with the lowest price when the auction ends. At the discretion of the customer it could be assigned to a higher bidder who has received a better score from past clients' feedback. For the lowest bid all ties are broken by feedback ratings. In the season 9 finale, the shippers get their cargo from the shipping broker, but the bidding process isn't shown.Winners load their cargo and try to deliver it in good condition by the client's or receiver's deadline. After the cargo has been delivered, feedback scores are shown from customers. The show concludes with the revenue of each shipper and expenses. To determine the profits or loss the bid amount is subtracted. Sometimes, a shipper might arrange to haul additional loads in the same journey. This will be added to their total. Sometimes, the shipper might not be able to complete an assignment due to worries about the weight/size of the load as well as road safety. One shipper might employ another person to assist in an assignment. When the work is done the shippers determine which way to divide the profits. In the first eight seasons, the progression of each shipment is interspersed with hilarious criticisms from other shippers.
