Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on their farm in Eufala. In football, he played with his three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won two national championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California at Berkeley. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Then he settled in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young men in the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the squad. In 1993, Roy joined at the University of South Florida's athletic department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
